Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon

Shwedagon Pagoda is arguably one of the most famous pagodas in the world and certainly is the main attraction of Yangon, Myanmar. It sits on top of a hill and can be seen from pretty much everywhere in Yangon. We were able to see it from our hotel room as well and even from a distance, it feels magical at night.

You are required to take your shoes off upon entering the Pagoda just as any other pagoda in Myanmar. Also, you are expected to adhere the dress code, no shorts, no tank tops etc. If you are unhappy with such requirements, it is probably not a place to visit for you unfortunately. Especially in Cambodia and Thailand, I have seen some tourists ignoring the requests for proper dressing and this is not very welcomed by locals.

All photos are mine.
